Introduction Of Ranikhet
Ranikhet, Uttarakhand was Established in 1869, Ranikhet emerged as one of the finest and most beautiful and picturesque cantonments in the country. When Lord Mayo became the Governor General of India, he thought of changing the summer capital of India from Shimla to Ranikhet and, in the process got the railway line to Ranikhet surveyed.
The panorama of the Himalayan range visible from here is arguably the largest visible from any other town in the Kumaon Hills. The peace and tranquility found here is almost unbelievable.In some ways, Ranikhet has managed to hold onto its virginity and pristine charm, whereas other hill stations have become concrete jungles. Its atmosphere is unmatched by the old buildings, churches, barracks, bungalows, and most importantly, lush green forests.

Jageshwar
Jageshwar is 3 hours away from Ranikhet, Jageshwar is one of the most important religious sites of Hindus in Kumaon and is believed to be the abode of one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
It is also mentioned in the great epic of Mahabharata. The great temple complex is located in a narrow and beautiful valley covered with cedar trees. Two streams flow from Nandini and Surabhi hills and meet near the holy place. A dense grove of deodar trees, eternal greenery and the sweet rumble of the river waterfalls give this place a distinct charm and sanctity.
He has 124 temples and hundreds of magnificent sculptures of exquisite craftsmanship. The oldest temple is of ‘Mrityunjaya’ and the largest temple is of ‘Dindeshwar’. During monsoon their huge fair is held every year in Jageshwar.
Chaubatia Garden
Chaubatia Park is famous for its huge orchards of delicious apples, plums, peaches and apricots. It is the result of the pioneering efforts of a British settler 150 years ago. There is a sales counter in the garden that you can buy fresh apple juice.
Sitla Khet
This picturesque place located between Ranikhet and Almora not only offers a panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks but is also dotted with orchards of fruits. Scouting camps are often held here and there is a beautiful temple of the ink goddess about 3 km away on a beautiful mountain trail. Khunt, a nearby place, is the birthplace of Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. In honor of this great son of the soil, a centennial memorial was erected here a few years ago.
Kausani
Situated at a distance of about 50 kilometres from Ranikhet, Kausani is famous for its breathtakingly close view of the Himalayan peaks and its solitude and greenery. The wide expanse of the famous Katyur valley lies in front of it as you wake up to experience the Kausani sunrise. The beauty of Kausani also caught the feet of Mahatma Gandhi, who stayed at this place for some time.
That brief memory of the great man lingers in the Anasakti Ashram. It was here that the renowned Hindi poet Sumitra Nandan Pant, another great man of India, was born. The holy site is commemorated with a small museum. Kausani’s beauty also inspired well-known folk singer Gopidas. The highest points close to Kausani are Pinath (10 km), Bura Pinath (5 km), and Bhakot.
Binsar Mahadev
Binsar Mahadev is again a temple which is of great significance. This temple is located around 19 km away from Ranikhet. This temple is situated at a height of 2480 meters and is encircled by dense deodar forests. Within the temple chamber are Lord Ganesh, Maheshmardini, Hari, and Gauri. A major draw for this temple is its exquisite architecture.
The texts found in the Nagarilipi, which dates to the early 9th century, are actually engraved on the idol of Maheshmardini. King Pithu erected this temple in remembrance of his father, Bindu. This location is also known as Bindeshwar Temple.It watches out the large gathering of the devotees on different occasion of the Baikunth Chaturdashi during the June month. Jhula Devi Temple
This temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. This is a very old temple situated at a distance of about 7 kms from Ranikhet city. It is located on the way to Chaubatia. The most attractive feature of the temple is the sound of bells. You can hear it even from a distance. As soon as the Goddess accepts their wishes, many devotees come and tie these bells. You can also build a temple nearby which is dedicated to Lord Rama.
This temple was built when the city prayed to Goddess Durga for protection from the leopards and tigers living in those mountains. Then the goddess appeared in the dream of the shepherd and suggested digging an idol from a particular part of the ground and building a temple at that place. All the villagers followed the instructions with full dedication.
Although occasional tigers and leopards are still present in the area, villagers and their cattle now roam freely inside the forest. It is strongly believed that all your wishes will be fulfilled if you tie a bell in the temple. Now that many of the bells have been tied and glued together they are really starting to pile up.
Maa Kali Temple , Ranikhet

KRC Museum
The Kumaon Regimental Centre (KRC) is a short walk from the main road of Ranikhet. This museum displays memorabilia from the wars that the regiment has fought. Major Somnath Sharma, who belonged to the Kumaon Regiment, was awarded India’s first Param Vir Chakra. The KRC has also taken the responsibility of maintaining the Mankameshwar Temple located on the route itself.
The KRC Window Association runs a factory near the Nar Singh Stadium procession ground. And the K.R.C. Museum is also nearby, housed in a centuries-old church with tall, stained glass windows and a high vaulted ceiling. You will find it very interesting when you see women working on looms in a beautiful setting.
The Kumaon Regimental Centre (KRC) was established during 1970 by the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army. The museum showcases the historical significance of the Kumaon and Garhwal regiments. It also displays some valuable materials, such as the silver scepter of the Queen of Jhansi, paintings and documents related to the Kargil War, and wireless field phones captured by Chinese and Japanese rifles during World War II in the year 1962. Majkhali
